Our Story

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote, “In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.” Reflecting back over our childhood in Bronwood, GA, we have grown to have a better understanding of what those words mean. If one word can be used to describe our childhood, it would be SIMPLE. Not simple as in being straightforward or easy, it was more (dare we say) complicated than that. Rather, it was a simplicity that afforded us the opportunity to wonder, explore, imagine, and investigate whatever thoughts happened across our minds; allowing us to gain a better and more thorough understanding of our world and the world around us. It was a simplicity that enabled us to operate in a space unrestricted by anything other than our own imagination.  It was a childhood on which Montessori schools are based.

.

But what were the effects? How did the simplicity of our upbringing affect us later in our lives? Although some would say the career paths and education achievements speak for themselves, it’s more than that. Martin H. Fischer once said, “Knowledge is a process of piling up facts, wisdom lies in their simplification.” We have a gift of explaining the complex in a simplistic manner that then allows for an easier transference or implementation. And, although the world has become much more complicated than when we were growing up, the need for childlike simplicity remains the same - whether in the classroom or boardroom.
